Training
Radiation Users Class Information & SignUp
The Radiation Safety Unit has developed a training program for users of radioactive material and for individuals working in an ancillary capacity. The purpose is to not only provide adequate training, but to demonstrate to the regulatory agencies (New York State Department of Health) that our users have been tested.
All prospective users of radioactive material must attend the class and pass the test to become fully certified as an Authorized User at the University of Rochester. Prior training at another facility will not itself satisfy this requirement.
This program was effective July 1, 1987 and is continually being upgraded. Users who have attended these sessions at the University of Rochester prior to 1984 may be exempted by approval of the RSO.
There will be a take home test distributed at the end of class. An annual on-line refresher course will be required from all authorized users.
